Dermastamp/skin needling:
What is skin needling?
Skin needling utilises micro needles to create a controlled wound of the skin. This breaks down existing collagen, elastin and scar tissue to allow for remodelling of new correctly cross linked collagen fibres giving increased strength and elasticity to the skin.
Who is a good candidate for skin needling?
Skin needling is beneficial for all skin types however is particularly effective for the treatment of ageing including fine rhytids and wrinkles, scarring including acne scars and post surgical scars as well as overall skin rejuvenation.
Is there downtime associated with skin needling?
When utilising skin needling for tightening the skin, we must create a certain level of inflammation and therefore 1-3 days of downtime is often present. Symptoms of inflammation include redness, swelling and often warmth of the skin. This Is then commonly followed by a light shed or rough feeling to the skin as the old cells exfoliate off and the skin builds a healthy new dermal layer of skin.
Laser hair removal:
How does laser hair removal work?
Laser hair removal devices utilise thermal energy to damage hair follicles, preventing them from having the ability to reproduce hairs. The laser light is attracted to the colour of each hair follicle, therefore the darker your hair the better!
Is laser hair removal painful?
At our clinic we utilise the Lumenis Light Sheer modality for laser hair removal treatments. The handpiece on this laser machine utilises a suction tip in which distracts the nerve endings allowing the patient to feel little to no pain.
Why isn’t my laser hair removal working?
There are many factors that can contribute to poor laser hair removal results. Some of these factors include, too little interval time in between treatments, old laser hair removal technology and incorrect settings used by the therapist treating you. All hair follicles work in phases. For laser hair removal to be effective, the hairs must be treated during their anagen phase (or growth phase) in each cycle. If treatment intervals are too short or too long the treatment will be unsuccessful.
Who can have laser hair removal?
The most successful candidates for laser hair removal are those with lighter skin and darker hairs. Laser hair removal machines are targeted to the colour in the hair follicle therefore white or blonde hairs cannot be treated effectively. The machine we use in our clinic – The Lumenis Light Sheer is safe and effective when used on any skin type up to a Fitzpatrick Phototype V.
What areas can you treat?
Laser hair removal can treat all areas of the body including legs, arms, underarms, face, stomach, back, brazilian and buttocks.
How many sessions do you require of laser hair removal for successful treatment outcomes?
